TAG Bag FAQs
The
first synthetic game bag for superior protection against wasted game meat
in the field. T.A.G. Bags are made with Game-VentTM synthetic material,
which offers a precise thread count and fabric construction that is crucial
for allowing adequate ventilation, fabric strength, and durability. This
synthetic fabric (Game-VentTM) is a special
nylon material that has been weaved and dyed in a unique way, which provides
the ventilation mandatory for proper air flow. Game-VentTM
is the only synthetic material that provides superior ventilation while
offering a lightweight and durable game meat bag. All other nylon materials
negate this air flow and will certainly force rapid spoilage if used.
This innovative new technology, designed by Alaska hunting expert, Larry
Bartlett, has produced this new game bag design that is perfect for all
species and types of hunts. Whether hunting coastal deer, mountain goats
or sheep, moose, caribou, or any other big game species, T.A.G. Bags will
deliver optimal performance where game bags are concerned.

Question: How are synthetic game bags superior to cotton bags?
Answer: T.A.G. Bags are made of an innovative material, called Game-VentTM, that provides a lighter, stronger, and more durable alternative to cotton fabric, which dries quickly after getting wet, resists molds and bacteria that contribute to meat spoilage, and is drastically lighter than cotton. Cotton is simply yesterday's technology, and T.A.G. Bags are the NEW standard for serious hunters who need the very best bags to protect their wild game.
Question: How much lighter are T.A.G. Bags than my canvas-style cotton game bags?
Answer: Some canvas-style game bags weigh as much as 2.5 pounds per bag, where a complete set of six (28" X 60") T.A.G. Bags plus the stuff sack weighs 2.1 lbs., and five (24"X44") T.A.G. Bags plus the stuff sack weighs just over 1 lb. That speaks volumes when needing to reduce extraneous gear weight.
Question: Will an entire moose leg fit inside the 28" X 60" T.A.G Bag?
Answer: Yes. We designed these bags over-sized to accomodate an entire moose quarter, since most conventional game bags are too short or shrink with repeated use and prevent the shank from being protected from flies and other contaminants. That just won't do, so our bags will completely cover even the heftiest quarters.
Question: All other game bag sets I've purchased in recent years are sold with four bags, which makes perfect sense since there are four quarters on all big game animals. Why do the 24" X 44" T.A.G. Bag sets come with five game bags and the 28" X 60" bags sets come with six bags?
Answer: It is important to place each animal leg (quarter) inside its own bag for proper ventilation, but that still leaves neck meat, trim meat, backstraps, and tenderloins. On smaller animals like caribou, deer, goat, etc., bag #5 (24" X 44") can be used to stow all remaining meat for easy handling in the field. Moose and bison, on the other hand, are too large to accomodate with only five bags. Experienced hunters use at least six bags for large big game animals, since neck meat from a large bull can weigh over 100-lbs. and must be divided into separate bags for easier transport. Bag #6 in the larger size (28" X 60") will easily accomodate all remaining meat parts for easier handling and proper ventilation.
Question: Will T.A.G. Bags shrink after repeated washing and drying?
Answer: T.A.G. Bags should not shrink when laundered. We recommend machine washing then hang dry.
Question: Will blood and other stains discolor my T.A.G. Bags?
Answer: Game-VentTM material is resistent to stains but may retain a small percentage of discoloration after washing is complete. For stuborn blood stains we recommend applying Spray & Wash or other stain-fighting agents prior to washing. If you're concerned about discoloration, simply allow your T.A.G. Bags to soak in a stain-fighting agent, such as Spray & Wash, prior to the machine wash cycle. A small amount of common laundry detergent can be used to remove gamey odors. Hunters may also apply a small amount of bleach to the machine wash cycle to help eliminate odors.
